Career Opportunity: Sales Administrator – Cape Town Office


Position: Sales administrator – Cape Town office
Reporting to: Special Sales Manager
Department: Sales

Purpose of the job:
To provide assistance and support to the Penguin Random House sales and marketing team in generating sales.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Accurate and prompt handling of customer orders and queries
  • Generating accurate invoices (email, fax or telephone), for direct, trade, export and corporate orders
  • Compiling monthly sales reports using Qlikview and any other reports as requested by members of the sales team
  • Providing effective administrative support i.e. processing of stock orders, ordering of samples, compiling lists and order forms for the sales team
  • Downloading of images and title information sheets from Biblio and Book image (in-house systems)
  • Preparing sample copies for library submissions and sales packs for outlying customers
  • Updating stock lists and order forms on a monthly basis and as requested
  • Assisting in adhoc administration i.e. booking of meeting rooms / sending and receiving overnight parcels to the JHB office/ switchboard
  • Assisting with book sales at events, some of which may be after hours
  • General office assistance

Key requirements for the role:

  • Matric
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in an administrative role
  • Advanced computer proficiency
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Strong communication skills
  • A positive attitude and the ability to take initiative
  • Driver’s license

Advantageous skills:

  • Knowledge of Bookmaster/TMS and Qlikview
  • Proficiency in Afrikaans
  • Post-school qualification
  • Experience in the publishing industry
